At any branch of State Bank of India and at nationalised bank Public Provident Fund Account can be opened. At head post office and sub post office PPF account can be opened.
How to Check Provident Fund Status:
To check Provident Fund Status person must contact his or her bank or post office to make a PF status enquiry. After making a call, bank or post office will tell the current Provident Fund Status. If bank is providing online facility. Then customer can have Provident Fund Status online. For this customer can make a request to their bank to link the Public Provident Fund account with existing online bank account. Once account is merged then customer can have Provident Fund Status online.

- PF status enquiry can be made anytime. It can be done in 2 ways offline enquiry and online enquiry.
- Offline enquiry can be made through phone, by direct contact, by visiting bank or post office, etc.
- Online PF status enquiry can be done at the official website of the bank i.e. . http://www.statebankofindia.com/
- PF status enquiry can be made regarding PF status, PF balance, PF withdrawl, PF transfer status, interest rates, tax benefit, loan against PPF, etc.
